Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) is the preferred way to create a database. Command dbca is GUI interactive way to create database. I am installing Oracle 12c database as a repository database for the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control So I prefer to use EM12 database template. Download template from URL below.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/enterprise-manager/downloads/db-templates-2767916.html
Change directory to $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/dbca/templates and unzip
cd $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/dbca/templates
unzip /usr/local/src/ora_stage/12.1.0.2.0_Database_Template_for_EM13_1_0_0_0_Linux_x64.zip
Once extraction is completed, execute dbca command to start database configuration assistant.
Select Create database and Click on Next to continue.
Since we are using EM13 template to install the database, select Advance Mode and Click on Next to continue.
Select EM13 Small deployment template and click on Next to continue.
Type Global Database Name and SID. Click on Next to continue.
We may configure Enterprise Manager Database Express. In my case I donot require then so I unchecked and click on Next to continue.
Type Administrative password for Admin accounts. Click on Next to continue.
In my case I have already created listener so Listener is listed. If listener is not created we can create Clicking the Create a New Listener option and providing Listener name and port. Select the listener and Click on Next to continue.
Select appropriate Storage type and Click on Next to continue.
We can have additional options, select as per required and click on Next to continue.
Set required Memory Setting.
Set required Character settings and Click on Next to continue.
Select Create Database and Click on Next.
Summary page will be displayed. Click on Finish to begin database installation.
Installation is on progress. #####
Finally installation completion window will be displayed. Click on Close to finish installation and Close window.
